THIS COPY OF LOLA IS BEYOND SPECIAL!!! Pick up a genuinely precious piece of art history.

We are selling this copy on behalf of the artist Maciej Hubner (Maciej Hibner) - he has entrusted us with it after having had it in his private archives since the poster’s release in 1967. Artists were given a maximum of 5 copies to keep. Other than that they were paid a standard flat fee by the Ministry of Arts and Culture for their design. It breaks our hearts a little that this wonderful iconic design is reprinted all over the place with out permission from the artist and without him seeing any financial benefit.

Hubner (Hibner) designed this vintage Polish poster for the Polish cinema release of the 1961 French new-wave romantic drama ‘Lola’ directed by Jacques Demy and starring Anouk Aimee. She’d look super cool hanging out anywhere. She does have a few flaws (don’t we all!) but we think the fact she’s been travelling through life with such a dream of a man and a huge talent as an artist is priceless.

Polish A1 size: 57.5 x 83.5 cm

BUYING A VINTAGE POSTER

All of our vintage Polish posters are lovingly sourced from Poland and were the original editions commissioned by the Communist State to promote cultural events. Polish posters were printed in strictly limited runs to be displayed in town centres, theatres and cinemas - so any which survive have been lovingly rescued along the way.

For us, nothing comes close to the soulful charm of vintage Polish posters; the colours, the offset lithography, the matt paper. But please note, due to their age, many do bear marks of time.

We always do our best to describe any flaws, but if you have any questions at all about this vintage poster then get in touch and we’ll be happy to send you more info.
